BIRDS SERIES

An abundance of colors and shapes characterize these images of birds that are purely decorative. To me, this decorative aspect is some time more important than what is depicted, because my goal is to accentuate a space or an interior wall and transform it into a vibrant and bright center of attention.

In this piece below the decorative aspect however, overlaps with the concept of pollution. The birds are flying in scattered with plastic sheet sky.

SHADOWS

ARTISTIC RECONSTRUCTION OF TWO GODDESSES

In working with damaged art from Antiquity, I have always strived to visualize how these pieces appeared at the time of their creation. The limitations in archaeological reconstructions are

quite restrictive, as often there are no references for lost fragments. These limitations could be removed however, if one creates an artistic interpretation. My admiration of these particular sculptures helped me during my reconstruction efforts in suggesting the form and movement of the missing arms and heads of the Goddesses.

GOOD MORNING TO AMERICA

After escaping a communist regime, for several years I experienced varieties of nightmares about finding myself back. The authorities would capture, question and put me in prison. Terrified, I would wake up and find myself in this country. This drawing expresses such happy moment.

UNEARTHED

This work speaks about the excitement following an archaeological find. My idea was to convey the feeling one experiences while digging into the earth, and suddenly discovering the vivid

presence of another world that existed thousands of years ago. The piece was made in plaster and photographed.
