My mosaics series are part of my retrospective work and are dedicated to the old Bulgarian Palaces, which visiting one day helped me to return to my true self.

 

For several yeas I was making mostly mosaics that were designed for interiors. Some were made three-dimensional to achieve the effect of subtle shades at the surface. The materials I used were glass tesserae in variety of bright and subdued colors and natural stone mostly in white and black as well as earth colors. My inspiration for some of the mosaics was the centuries old heritage of Bulgarian embroidery. It may sound strange that a design for using a tread is transformed into placing next to each other small pieces of stone, but I liked the look of these textiles enough to make that effort work.
