VISIONS FROM THE PAST 

My idea was to present these images of ancient statues as if they were alive, talking to each other, and engaging in forms of communication. This is the opposite of what statues represent, symbolize, and are. A statue, of course, is unmoving and immobile. Yet I wanted to create a sense of movement and communication dialog. By comparison or in contrast, our society today is very mobile, but contemporary society also has a contrary aspect, i.e., the tendency to be unmoving and focused at a computer monitor or on the small screen of a smart phone. One may remain almost motionless and say not a word directly to anyone during the entire day. I find it an intriguing juxtaposition of ideas.
