The ideas behind these series refer to the state of art from a historical perspective. We have today only a very small part of art from the past, often preserved by accident.

 

In the past and continuing still today, art has been burned and bombed, destroyed by numerous wars, abandoned due to migration from one place to another, and destroyed by natural phenomena and by malevolent acts of nations, groups, and individuals, especially if the art does not correspond to the religious or cultural views of a given group.

 

My own experience makes the idea of lost art from the past personal. When I left my country, all my works created over 23 years were lost. I began to imagine that my drawings and paintings were blown by the wind, torn, wrinkled, crushed, burned, and otherwise damaged, doomed, and made to disappear. These are the visions that have led to the creation of these works.
